Welcome to this discussion forum dedicated to a vital cause: advocating for justice reform in sentencing laws related to historical child abuse cases.
Under current legislation in the UK, courts must sentence offenders based on the guidelines that were in place at the time the abuse occurred — even if those standards are now outdated. This means that individuals who committed horrific crimes before 2005 can receive shockingly light sentences, even for repeated and violent abuse. Today, those same acts would carry a maximum sentence of 14 years.
This forum is a space to raise awareness, share news and petitions, exchange ideas, and support survivors. If you’ve signed the petition or want to help spread the word, feel free to post and join the conversation.
