Overview
Paris, 1954. The war is over, but the city still breathes secrets through its narrow alleys and smoky jazz clubs. When celebrated violinist Émile Vasseur disappears the night before a major performance at the Opéra Garnier, the case is dismissed as another eccentric artist fleeing fame.
But Inspector Lucien Morel, a war-weary detective with a sharp eye for details and a nose for lies, isn’t convinced. His investigation leads him to Rue Blanche, a quiet street hiding too many stories — a jealous mistress, a corrupt impresario, and a Soviet agent playing a dangerous game in the heart of Paris.
As Morel digs deeper, he discovers that Émile’s music was a cover for something much darker: a courier of coded messages hidden in sheet music. When bodies begin to surface, and the French intelligence service warns him to stay out, Morel must decide — follow orders or chase the truth.
Set against the backdrop of a tense Cold War climate, Shadows on Rue Blanche blends classic noir suspense with the elegance and grit of post-war Paris. Twisting through smoky cafes, grand theaters, and forgotten catacombs, it’s a tale of love, betrayal, and how far one man will go to solve a mystery no one wants uncovered.
